Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The listed launch prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The 2000D was launched at a somewhat lower price (by 18 percent) than the E-PL9, which makes it more attractive for photographers on a tight budget. The size of the imaging sensor is a crucial determinant of image quality. One differentiating feature between the two cameras concerns the touch sensitivity of the rear screen. The E-PL9 has a touchscreen, while the 2000D has a conventional panel.
