Canon G1 X Mark III versus Sony RX10 IV
The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV are two enthusiast cameras that were revealed to the public, respectively, in October 2017 and September 2017. Both the G1X Mark III and the RX10 IV are fixed lens compact cameras that are based on an APS-C (G1X Mark III) and an one-inch sensor. The Canon has a resolution of 24 megapixel, whereas the Sony provides 20 MP.

The listed prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The G1X Mark III was launched at a somewhat lower price (by 24 percent) than the RX10 IV, which makes it more attractive for photographers on a tight budget. Many modern cameras cannot only take still pictures, but also record videos. Both cameras under consideration are equipped with sensors that have a sufficiently high read-out speed for moving images, but the RX10 IV provides a better video resolution than the G1X Mark III. It can shoot movie footage at 4K/30p, while the Canon is limited to 1080/60p.

Both the G1X Mark III and the RX10 IV have zoom lenses build in. The G1X Mark III has a 24-72mm f/2.8-5.6 optic and the RX10 IV offers a 24-600mm f/2.4-4.0 (focal lengths in full frame equivalent terms).
