Canon 7D II vs Kodak S-1
The Canon EOS 7D Mark II and the Kodak PixPro S-1 are two digital cameras that were officially introduced, respectively, in September 2014 and January 2012. Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The retail prices at the time of the camera’s release place the model in the market relative to other models in the producer’s line-up and the competition. The S-1 was launched at a markedly lower price (by 83 percent) than the 7D Mark II, which puts it into a different market segment. Of the two cameras under consideration, the Canon 7D II features an APS-C sensor and the Kodak S-1 a Four Thirds sensor. The sensor area in the S-1 is 33 percent smaller. As a result of these sensor size differences, the cameras have a format factor of, respectively, 1.6 and 2.0. The sensor in the 7D Mark II has a native 3:2 aspect ratio, while the one in the S-1 offers a 4:3 aspect.
With 20MP, the 7D Mark II offers a higher resolution than the S-1 (16.1MP), but the 7D Mark II nevertheless has larger individual pixels (pixel pitch of 4.10μm versus 3.74μm for the S-1) due to its larger sensor. The 7D Mark II has on-sensor phase detect pixels, which results in fast and reliable autofocus acquisition even during live view operation.
The Canon EOS 7D Mark II has a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 16000, which can be extended to ISO 100-51200. The corresponding ISO settings for the Kodak PixPro S-1 are ISO 200 to ISO 12800 (no boost).

Many modern cameras are not only capable of taking still images, but also of capturing video footage. It is notable that the 7D Mark II has a microphone port, which is missing on the S-1. Such an external microphone input can help to substantially improve the quality of audio recordings when a good external microphone is used.
