Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices give an idea on the placement of the camera in the maker’s lineup and the broader market. The LX5 was launched at a lower price than the GX800, despite having a lens built in. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. One differentiating feature between the two cameras concerns the touch sensitivity of the rear screen. The GX800 has a touchscreen, while the LX5 has a conventional panel.
