Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices give an idea on the placement of the camera in the maker’s lineup and the broader market. The X1 was launched at a lower price than the A7S III, despite having a lens built in. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. One difference between the cameras concerns the presence of an on-board flash. The X1 has one, while the A7S III does not. While the built-in flash of the X1 is not very powerful, it can at times be useful as a fill-in light.
