Canon T6s vs Leica M Typ 262
The Canon EOS Rebel T6s (called Canon 760D in some regions) and the Leica M (Typ 262) are two digital cameras that were officially introduced, respectively, in February 2015 and November 2015. The T6s is a DSLR, while the M Typ 262 is a rangefinder-style mirrorless camera. The cameras are based on an APS-C (T6s) and a full frame (M Typ 262) sensor. The Canon has a resolution of 24 megapixels, whereas the Leica provides 23.7 MP.

Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The retail prices at the time of the camera’s release place the model in the market relative to other models in the producer’s line-up and the competition. The T6s was launched at a markedly lower price (by 88 percent) than the M Typ 262, which puts it into a different market segment. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. Later in the product cycle and, in particular, when the replacement model is about to appear, further discounting and stock clearance sales often push the camera price considerably down. Then, after the new model is out, very good deals can frequently be found on the pre-owned market.
The size of the sensor inside a digital camera is one of the key determinants of image quality. All other things equal, a large sensor will have larger individual pixel-units that offer better low-light sensitivity, wider dynamic range, and richer color-depth than smaller pixels in a sensor of the same technological generation. Furthermore, a large sensor camera will give the photographer more possibilities to use shallow depth-of-field in order to isolate a subject from the background. On the downside, larger sensors tend to be associated with larger, more expensive camera bodies and lenses.
Of the two cameras under consideration, the Canon T6s features an APS-C sensor and the Leica M Typ 262 a full frame sensor. The sensor area in the M Typ 262 is 158 percent bigger. As a result of these sensor size differences, the cameras have a format factor of, respectively, 1.6 and 1.0. Both cameras have a native aspect ratio (sensor width to sensor height) of 3:2.
Despite having a smaller sensor, the Canon T6s offers a higher resolution of 24 megapixels, compared with 23.7 MP of the Leica M Typ 262. This megapixels advantage comes at the cost of a higher pixel density and a smaller size of the individual pixel (with a pixel pitch of 3.72μm versus 6.01μm for the M Typ 262). Moreover, it should be noted that the M Typ 262 is a somewhat more recent model (by 9 months) than the T6s, and its sensor might have benefitted from technological advances during this time that further enhance the light gathering capacity of its pixel-units. Coming back to sensor resolution, it should be mentioned that the M Typ 262 has no anti-alias filter installed, so that it can capture all the detail its sensor resolves.
The T6s has on-sensor phase detect pixels, which results in fast and reliable autofocus acquisition even during live view operation.
The Canon EOS Rebel T6s has a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 12800, which can be extended to ISO 100-25600. The corresponding ISO settings for the Leica M (Typ 262) are ISO 200 to ISO 6400, with the possibility to increase the ISO range to 100-6400.

Many modern cameras are not only capable of taking still images, but can also record movies. The T6s indeed provides movie recording capabilities, while the M Typ 262 does not. The highest resolution format that the T6s can use is 1080/30p.
Apart from body and sensor, cameras can and do differ across a variety of features. The T6s and the M Typ 262 are similar in the sense that both have an optical viewfinder. The latter is useful for getting a clear image for framing even in brightly lit environments. The viewfinder in the M Typ 262 offers a wider field of view (100%) than the one in the T6s (95%), so that a larger proportion of the captured image is visible in the finder. In addition, the viewfinder of the M Typ 262 has a higher magnification (0.68x vs 0.51x), so that the size of the image transmitted appears closer to the size seen with the naked human eye. One difference between the cameras concerns the presence of an on-board flash. The T6s has one, while the M Typ 262 does not. While the built-in flash of the T6s is not very powerful, it can at times be useful as a fill-in light.The T6s has an articulated LCD that can be turned to be front-facing. This characteristic will be appreciated by vloggers and photographers who are interested in snapping selfies. In contrast, the M Typ 262 does not have a selfie-screen.

It is notable that the T6s offers wifi support, while the M Typ 262 does not. Wifi can be a very convenient means to transfer image data to an off-camera location.
Both the T6s and the M Typ 262 have been discontinued, but can regularly be found used on eBay. The T6s was replaced by the Canon 77D, while the M Typ 262 was followed by the Leica M10.
