Any camera decision will obviously take relative prices into account. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices give an idea on the placement of the camera in the maker’s lineup and the broader market. The A7C was somewhat cheaper (by 10 percent) than the Z6 II at launch, but both cameras fall into the same price category. Both cameras under consideration feature a full frame sensor, but their sensors differ slightly in size. The sensor area in the A7C is 1 percent smaller. They nevertheless have the same format factor of 1.0. Both cameras have a native aspect ratio (sensor width to sensor height) of 3:2.
Technology-wise, both cameras are equipped with BSI-CMOS (Backside Illuminated Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor) sensors.
With 24.3MP, the Z6 II offers a slightly higher resolution than the A7C (24MP), but the Z6 II nevertheless has the same individual pixel size (pixel pitch of 5.94μm) as the A7C due to its larger sensor. The Nikon Z6 II has a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 51200, which can be extended to ISO 50-204800. The Sony Alpha A7C offers exactly the same ISO settings.

Many modern cameras cannot only take still pictures, but also record videos. One feature that is present on the Z6 II, but is missing on the A7C is a top-level LCD. While being, of course, smaller than the rear screen, the control panel conveys some of the essential shooting information and can be convenient for quick and easy settings verification.The A7C has an articulated screen that can be turned to be front-facing. The reported shutter speed information refers to the use of the mechanical shutter.
