Canon R6 vs Sony RX100
The Canon EOS R6 and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 are two digital cameras that were revealed to the public, respectively, in July 2020 and June 2012. The Canon R6 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, while the RX100 is a fixed lens compact. The cameras are based on a full frame (Canon R6) and an one-inch (RX100) sensor. Both cameras offer a resolution of 20 megapixels.

The price is, of course, an important factor in any camera decision. The listed launch prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The RX100 was launched at a lower price than the Canon R6, despite having a lens built in. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. Even though the Canon R6 has a larger sensor, both cameras offer the same resolution of 20 megapixels. This implies that the Canon R6 has a lower pixel density and larger individual pixels (with a pixel pitch of 6.57μm versus 2.41μm for the RX100), which gives it a potential advantage in terms of light gathering capacity. In addition, the Canon R6 is much more recent (by 8 years and 1 month) than the RX100, and its sensor will have benefitted from technological advances during this time.
The Canon R6 has on-sensor phase detect pixels, which results in fast and reliable autofocus acquisition even during live view operation.
The Canon EOS R6 has a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 102400, which can be extended to ISO 50-204800. The corresponding ISO settings for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 are ISO 100 to ISO 6400, with the possibility to increase the ISO range to 100-25600.

Many modern cameras cannot only take still pictures, but also record videos. One differentiating feature between the two cameras concerns the touch sensitivity of the rear screen. The Canon R6 has a touchscreen, while the RX100 has a conventional panel.
