MFT lenses from Panasonic

Since launching the Lumix G1 in September 2008 with a double lens kit, Panasonic has gradually developed its line of Micro Four-Thirds lenses, and the expansion and refinement of the Lumix and Leica lens-ranges continues. So what can we expect in terms of new lens releases over the coming months? Below is a roadmap of what has been rumoured, is in the pipeline, or has recently been launched. The highlights are certainly the three new "trinity" lenses – the Panasonic Leica 8-18mm, 12-60mm, and 50-200mm – that will become available later in 2017. Also, if you scroll down, you will find a table that makes it possible to quickly compare the headline specifications of all the Lumix m4/3 lenses – new and existing.

Panasonic Lumix Lenses for M43

Over the years, Panasonic has established itself as a major lens producer. While the company only provided a total of four lenses for its two Four Thirds cameras, it has released a largely complete set of lenses for mFT, ranging from ultra wideangle to super tele-photo. Indeed, Panasonic has to date launched more lenses for m43 than Olympus. Below is a structured overview of all Panasonic-branded mFT lenses. Similar listings, respectively, of all mFT lenses from Olympus and all autofocus and manual mFT lenses (across all manufacturers that support the system) can be found on separate pages. It should be noted that the listed prices correspond to Panasonic's pricing at launch time. There have been no adjustments made for inflation, so that older lenses may appear relatively cheap in nominal terms and might have been subject to subsequent price increases.

One advantage of Micro Four Thirds is that the system is supported by several lens manufacturers. Thus, even though you might primarily be a Panasonic shooter, having a look also at the Olympus lens line-up or the m43 lens compendium, which includes third party manufacturer offerings, will provide a more comprehensive view on what the m43 system is offering. Also, in case you are interested to find out how a particular camera-lens combination looks, you might want to check out the simulation tool at four-thirds.org.
