Both the HX99 and the WX800 have zoom lenses built in. Both optics have identical focal length range and aperture specifications (4.3-118mm f/3.5-6.4). Both cameras offer the same maximum aperture.
Concerning the storage of imaging data, both the HX99 and the WX800 write their files to SDXC or Memory Stick PRO Duo cards. The HX99 supports UHS-I cards (Ultra High Speed data transfer of up to 104 MB/s), while the WX800 cannot take advantage of Ultra High Speed SD cards.
