Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The retail prices at the time of the camera’s release place the model in the market relative to other models in the producer’s line-up and the competition. The TZ200 was launched at a markedly lower price (by 41 percent) than the V-LUX Typ 114, which puts it into a different market segment. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. It is notable that the V-LUX Typ 114 has a microphone port, which can help to improve the quality of audio recordings by attaching an external microphone. The TZ200 does not feature such a mic input.
The TZ200 is a recent model that features in the current product line-up of Panasonic. In contrast, the V-LUX Typ 114 has been discontinued (but can be found pre-owned on ebay).
