Panasonic FZ330 versus Panasonic FZ2000
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ330 (called Panasonic FZ300 in some regions) and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000 (labelled Panasonic FZ2500 in some countries) are two digital cameras that were officially introduced, respectively, in July 2015 and September 2016. Both the FZ330 and the FZ2000 are fixed lens compact cameras that are based on a 1/2.3-inch (FZ330) and an one-inch (FZ2000) sensor. The FZ330 has a resolution of 12 megapixel, whereas the FZ2000 provides 20 MP. If the front view area (width x height) of the cameras is taken as an aggregate measure of their size, the Panasonic FZ2000 is notably larger (16 percent) than the Panasonic FZ330. Moreover, the FZ2000 is markedly heavier (32 percent) than the FZ330. It is worth mentioning in this context that the FZ330 is splash and dust resistant, while the FZ2000 does not feature any corresponding weather-sealing.

The price is, of course, an important factor in any camera decision. The listed launch prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The FZ330 was launched at a markedly lower price (by 50 percent) than the FZ2000, which puts it into a different market segment. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. Later in the product cycle and, in particular, when the replacement model is about to appear, further discounting and stock clearance sales often push the camera price considerably down. Then, after the new model is out, very good deals can frequently be found on the pre-owned market.
Sensor comparison: Panasonic FZ330 vs Panasonic FZ2000
The size of the sensor inside a digital camera is one of the key determinants of image quality. A large sensor will generally have larger individual pixels that offer better low-light sensitivity, provide wider dynamic range, and have richer color depth than smaller pixels in a sensor of the same technological generation. Furthermore, a large sensor camera will give the photographer more possibilities to use shallow depth-of-field in order to isolate a subject from the background. On the downside, larger sensors tend to be associated with larger, more expensive camera bodies and lenses.
Of the two cameras under consideration, the Panasonic FZ330 features a 1/2.3-inch sensor and the Panasonic FZ2000 an one-inch sensor. The sensor area in the FZ2000 is 314 percent bigger. As a result of these sensor size differences, the cameras have a format factor of, respectively, 5.6 and 2.7. The sensor in the FZ330 has a native 4:3 aspect ratio, while the one in the FZ2000 offers a 3:2 aspect.
With 20MP, the FZ2000 offers a higher resolution than the FZ330 (12MP), but the FZ2000 nevertheless has larger individual pixels (pixel pitch of 2.41μm versus 1.53μm for the FZ330) due to its larger sensor. Moreover, the FZ2000 is a somewhat more recent model (by 1 year and 2 months) than the FZ330, and its sensor might have benefitted from technological advances during this time that further enhance the light gathering capacity of its pixel-units. Coming back to sensor resolution, it should be mentioned that the FZ330 has no anti-alias filter installed, so that it can capture all the detail its sensor resolves.

Many modern cameras cannot only take still pictures, but also record videos. The two cameras under consideration both have sensors whose read-out speed is fast enough to capture moving pictures, and both provide the same movie specifications (4K/30p).

Apart from body and sensor, cameras can and do differ across a range of features. The two cameras under review are similar with respect to both having an electronic viewfinder. However, the one in the FZ2000 offers a substantially higher resolution than the one in the FZ330 (2360k vs 1440k dots). Both the FZ330 and the FZ2000 have zoom lenses build in. The FZ330 has a 25-600mm f/2.8-2.8 optic and the FZ2000 offers a 24-480mm f/2.8-4.5 (focal lengths in full frame equivalent terms). Hence, the FZ2000 provides a wider angle of view at the short end than the FZ330, but less tele-photo reach at the long end. Both cameras offer the same maximum aperture.

Hence, a score should always be seen in the context of the camera's market launch date and its price, and comparing ratings of very distinct cameras or ones that are far apart in terms of their release date have little meaning.
