Canon 5D Mark III versus Sony RX10 IV
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV are two digital cameras that were revealed to the public, respectively, in March 2012 and September 2017. The 5D Mark III is a DSLR, while the RX10 IV is a fixed lens compact. The cameras are based on a full frame (5D Mark III) and an one-inch sensor. The Canon has a resolution of 22.1 megapixel, whereas the Sony provides 20 MP.

The listed prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The RX10 IV was launched at a lower price than the 5D Mark III, despite having a lens build in. Many modern cameras are not only capable of taking still images, but also of capturing video footage. The two cameras under consideration both have sensors whose read-out speed is fast enough to capture moving pictures, but the RX10 IV provides a better video resolution than the 5D Mark III. The RX10 IV is a current model that online retailers, such as amazon, will have in stock. In contrast, the 5D Mark III has been discontinued (but it can be found pre-owned on ebay). As a replacement in the same line of cameras, the 5D Mark III was succeeded by the Canon 5D Mark IV.
